Frequently Asked Questions
What are your qualifications?
We have been in the business of designing custom homes since 1987. We were featured in "Who's Who Among American Builders and Designers" in 1997 for "Outstanding Achievements and Excellence."
How am I charged?
The price for custom plans is 80ยข per square foot under roof (i.e.
every part covered by the roof). There is a deposit* required to begin
your preliminary plans.
* Deposits range from $250 - $500 depending on the projected square
footage of your house, and will be subtracted from your final bill.
What do your plans include?
Your final plan includes 8 full sets plus 4
extra floor plans. A complete set of plans include a floor
plan(s), all four elevations, a foundation plan, an electrical and roof layout,
wall section(s), and any interior details as required. The plan does not include a mechanical/HVAC layout, a plumbing plan, or materials list. Engineering is also not included, though, due to the varying building codes across the country. Structural engineering may be required to obtain your permit.
How do I start?
You should call our office or email us and
we'll call you to set up an appointment to meet with Bonnie Stewart, our designer. During your appointment we
will help you compile everything you want in your home. Bring your ideas, pictures, magazines, videos,
and your lot survey so as to help us fully understand exactly
what you want.
Do you have stock plans available?
Yes, we have over 2,000 of our original custom designed plans on
file. You can come into our office to view the fullsize plans, check out
one of our catalogues, or you can browse for plans on our website.*
* Due to the large quantity of plans that we have in stock, not all
of our plans may be available on the website at this time.
How long does it take?
After your initial meeting you should receive your preliminary
plans within two weeks. The amount of time between your first preliminary
and your final plans depends on the amount of changes made during the
preliminary phase.
